  7. Be able to explain how early English documents, such as the Magna Carta, Petition of Right, and English Bill of Rights influenced the American colonies. (What ideas did they get from these documents? Explain how they embody the principle of limited government)

  8. Be able to explain how the writings of Hobbes, Locke, and Montesquieu influenced American ideas of representative government.

  9. Be familiar with the main features of an autocracy, oligarchy, and democracy.
