TKAM – Building Your Background Knowledge

It’s critical that we understand the context of our next read, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee was experienced the 1930s depression, the 1940s World War II, and the racism of the 1950s. Her only novel, TKAM, was first published in 1960, three years before the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
