Men and Women of World War II

According to news journalist Tom Brokaw, the men and women of the Second World War are “The Greatest Generation.” He authored a book by the same name. In it he states: “They came of age during the Great Depression and the Second World War and went on to build a modern America—men and women whose everyday lives of duty, honor, achievement, and courage gave us the world we have today (Brokaw, back cover).” Although it is arguable by some whether this generation was truly the greatest, I believe the qualities they possessed exemplified greatness because of their devotion to God, family, and country; their courage, determination, honor, integrity, patriotism, personal responsibility, selflessness, and sense of duty. Such greatness still exists in the lives of others today, carried from the shoulders of those who came before.
