Instructional Plan- after detailing each plan component, indicate the approximate time allocated to carry out that part.

Opening: I will open with one of the subtraction interactive games from this website: https://sites.google.com/a/leahfullenkamp.com/mrs-fullenkamp/math-1/subtraction. (We will use a different game than before.) I will have students take turns and individually come up to answer a question each. This will get them engaged and ready to get back into the subtraction we have been working on!

Instruction: I will gather students at the reading rug to introduce the worksheet to them and explain all of the directions. Once it is explained and I have great reactions from them all and no more questions, I will let them begin working.

Practice: They will work in groups. During their working time, I will be scaffolding where I am needed while I am observing and taking notes.

Closing: In closing, I will reward the team who finished first and allow time for all other teams to finish. I will then tape every single group’s work onto the white board for them all to see! In addition, I will have them pull out their journals and they will need to write a persuasive paragraph on why subtracting is so important—persuading the reader of its important and the importance of practicing it.

After Assessment: I will have them pair up with a buddy and read their persuasive paragraph to them and then turn them in to me.
