Opening: I will remind my students of test procedures in our classroom to begin. We will have review time on this new website before beginning the test: http://www.mhschool.com/math/mathconnects/assets/asset_view.html?s=an_gk_le_subtractionstory&type=ANI.



Instruction: I will use this time to review. I will project PowerPoints that review terms and old worksheets and ask if anyone needs to review anything else.

Practice: Test time. The test will have T/F with written out subtraction problems and vocab terms and also pictures of signs (like equal and subtraction sign). The test will have problems on it where baseball bats are pictured and they must cross off some in order to find the answer. For example: If 10 bats are pictured and written below it is: 10-2, then the student needs to cross off two and then count how many are left and that is the answer. There will be basic subtraction problems as well as word problems.

Closing; I will take up the tests and then tell them to get out their journals.

After Assessment: I want my students to answer this question as their journal entry to close the unit: “Do you feel like you hit a home run with subtraction?” I hope to get honest answers so I can reflect back and see what we may need to still work on in the future.
