Name Del Assoc of Educational Office Professionals
Announcement The Delaware Association of Educational Office Professionals is offering a $1,000 scholarship
to students who wish to continue their education for at least two years in a business field.
Selection will be based on leadership, character, initiative and outstanding high school
record. Applications are due by March 15th and are available in the Guidance Office.
Name DSEA Christopher K. Smith Memorial Scholarship
Announcement Outstanding academic students who plan to teach as a career are invited to apply for the
Christopher K. Smith Memorial $4,000 scholarship. This state-wide scholarship
competition is sponsored by the DE State Education Association. Recipients must teach at
least one year in a DE public school. The deadline is March 15th.
Name Ayn Rand Essay Contests
Announcement Junior and Seniors who enjoy writing are invited to read Any Rand's The Fountainhead and
complete an essay in order to compete for up to $10,000 in cash awards. Essays must be
more than 800 but fewer than 1600 words in length and must be postmarked by April 26th
or emailed to essay@aynrand.org. Please see Guidance for specific information.
Freshmen and Sophomores may compete by writing an essay on Ayn Rand's novelette
Anthem. The rules and process are the same as above; the deadline is March 20th.
Name H. Fletcher Brown Scholarship
Announcement College-bound seniors who have scored significantly high on the SAT test and plan to study
chemistry, engineering, pre-law, pre-med or pre-dentistry in college are eligible to apply for
the H. Fletcher Brown Scholarship. Other requirements for eligibility include financial need
and Delaware native. Last year's scholarship totaled 20,000 over four years for the
recipient.The deadline for applications is March 22nd.
Name DE Association of School Administrators DASA
Announcement Seniors who have definite plans to attend college in the fall as an education major are
eligible to compete for two $1,000 scholarships offered by the Delaware Association of
School Administrators. Applicants will be judged on an essay "Why I Chose Education as
my Career Field". Three students from HVT can compete. Deadline is March 26th.
Name Delaware Higher Ed: Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship
Announcement Seniors who plan to attend college at least half-time upon graduation, score 1800
(combining three scores) or better on the SAT and rank in the top quarter of their class are
eligible to apply for the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. Applications are due by the
end of March. Scholarship recipients will receive an $1,500 award and is renewable for three

Name Delaware Higher Ed: Diamond State Scholarship
Announcement Diamond State Scholarships of $1,250 are available to students who rank in the upper
quarter of their senior class and have a combined score of at least 1800 (combining 3 scores)
on the SAT. Applicants must plan to attend college full-time in any regionally accredited
college. This award is renewable for up to three years. Applications are due by the end of

Name Delaware Higher Ed: DE Nursing Incentive Scholarship
Loan Program
Announcement Students who rank in the top half of their class, have at least a gpa of 2.5O and plan to study
nursing at the college-level are encouraged to apply for the DE Nursing Incentive
Scholarship Program. Awards of up to cost of tuition must be paid back by service in a DE

Scholarship
Announcement Seniors who plan to obtain teaching certification at one of Delaware's colleges, are graduating
in the upper half of their senior class and scored at least a 1570 (combining three scores) on
the SAT may apply for the Christie McAuliffe Teacher Scholarship Loan Program. All
awards must be repaid by service at a Delaware public school. Applications are due by the

County School Counselors Assoc)
Announcement College-bound seniors with a 2.5+ gpa are invited to enter an essay contest sponsored by the
New Castle Counselors Association. Essays should be about what things have shaped you
as a person, a student and a worthy recipient of the scholarship. A resume, transcript and
counselor recommendation must accompany the essay in one mailing. The recipient will
receive $500. All entries must be submitted by March 26th. See your counselor for more

Name Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Pearls of Hope Foundation
Scholarship
Announcement African-american females who plan to attend college are invited to apply for the Alpha Kappa
Alpha, Zeta Pearls of Hope Foundation Scholarship. All applicants must have a minimum
gpa of 2.5 by the end of 1st semester of senior year. The scholarship will be awarded based
on need, scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership and community
service. Applications must be submitted by March 31st.

Announcement Seniors who wish to attend college and are in non traditional home situations such as
students who are in foster care, are displaced or doubled up with grandparents, etc., MAY
BE eligible to apply for financial assistance with college costs. Applications are online at

Announcement The Harold Lighthipe Memorial Scholarship of $2000 will be awarded to two high school
seniors planning to major in political science, history or economics at a college or

Name Claymont Lions Club George Bigger Award
Announcement A scholarship award will be given by the Claymont Lions Club to a votech student who has
been successful in the classroom, participated in school/community activities with success
and inspired others to practice and maintain high standards and outstanding character in
everyday life. Nominees must reside within the service area of the Claymont Lions Club
(north of Wilmington City line and east of Marsh Road in New Castle County) All
applications are due by early April.

Announcement Seniors who have demonstrated exceptional involvement in community service, have good
leadership skills, high scholastic achievement and demonstrated financial need are eligible to
apply for the James A. McCarty Memorial Scholarship award of $1000. To apply, seniors
must obtain an application (available online at www.lions22d.org) and submit a transcript,
college acceptance letter, 2 letters of recommendation, copy of FAFSA and an essay. All
materials must be postmarked by April 1st.

Chapter Scholarships
Announcement African American male seniors are encouraged to apply for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
Scholarships. Applicants must have a gpa of 2.5 or higher and have a well-rounded record of
school service and activities. Awards range from $400 to $1,000 and financial need is
considered. Applications must include a transcript and an essay and are due by April 2nd.
Name Rotary Club of Newark Scholarship Award ****
Announcement The Rotary Club of Newark offers two $3,000 scholarships to area seniors planning to attend
college upon graduation. The Rotary would like to honor a well-rounded individual who
not only does well in academics but also has a history of "service above self". Financial need
will also be considered. To apply, a student must submit the application, a transcript, a
500 word essay and two teacher evaluations by the deadline of April 9th.
Name First State Manufactured Housing Scholarship Award
Announcement Seniors who plan to attend any type of schooling upon graduation - licensing or certification
program, vocational or academic training as well as 2 or 4yr college- and have resided in a
"manufactured home" for at least one year, may receive a scholarship award of up to $2000.
Sponsored by First State Manufactured Housing Institute, this award will be given to a
competitive student who submits all application materials and an essay by April 9th.
Students may apply online at www.doe.k12.de.us/dhec. Applicants must submit their
FAFSA form by mid-March in order to receive the required Student Aid Report in time for
the deadline.
Name Mary Q. Brown/Chi Eta Phi Sorority Scholarship
Announcement Chi Eta Phi Sorority, a professional nursing organization, is sponsoring a scholarship award
for seniors pursuing nursing in college upon graduation. Awards will be given to those
pursuing 2 year and 4 year degrees. To be eligible, students must have a 3.0+ gpa, an
1400+ combined SAT score, financial need, submit an essay and letter of recommendation.
Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the deadline is April 10th.

Name YWCA Delaware Community Service Scholarship
Announcement YWCA Delaware, with the Eckerd Family Foundation, will be awarding ten $1,000
scholarships to Delaware students who have shown a commitment to involvement in their
community through service. Scholarships will be paid directly to the academic institution.
Who is eligible to apply: Any student in Delaware who has been accepted to vocational
school, community college, or a four-year college or university. Applicants must have
completed at least 50 hours of community service in the last 2 years. Applicants must
submit all of the following to be considered: completed scholarship application, one letter of
recommendation from a teacher or academic advisor, a letter from the organization(s) through
which the 50 hours of community service was completed on official letterhead. The official
application can be obtained from www.ywcade.org.
Name Chrysler Technical Scholarship Fund
Announcement Students interested in a career in the auto industry have a scholarship program available to
assist them in paying for college. Delaware seniors with a GPA of at least 2.75, a record of
leadership in the community or school, and have financial need are eligible for a one time
$1,000 award. The applicant must plan to obtain a certificate or degree from a community
college, trade school or university in a technical field related to automotive products, repair,
design, skilled trades and/or engineering. Online applications are available at www.delcf.org
and must include 2 letters of recommendation. The deadline is mid-April.

Announcement The Dunkin Donuts Philadelphia Regional Scholarship is a 1,000 award to a high school
senior who plans to attend a four year, two year or vocational technical school upon

Name Irish Culture Club Jim O'Hanlon Scholarship
Announcement College-bound seniors who have shown leadership in and significant contribution to any
culture's ethnic activities (NOT JUST IRISH) are invited to compete for the Irish Culture
Club Scholarship of $500. Students need NOT be of Irish descent to to compete. The
primary critieria for earning this scholarship will be the student's contribution to ethnic/high
school activities and scholastic achievements. An essay (no longer than 2 pages) outlining
the criteria and a recommendation must be postmarked by April 15th. See your counselor or

Name Youth Opportunity Fund
Announcement The purpose of the Youth Opportunity Fund is to provide financial aid to a Delaware
resident who has aspirations to attend college but has experienced a chronic illness (for at
least six months) that has impaired his or her education. Consideration will be given to all
facets of the student's education and activities, and preference will be given to those students
most in need of financial support. Applications are due by April 15th.
Name Governor Minner BioTech Scholarship
Announcement Seniors who plan to attend the University of Delaware, Delaware State University or DTCC
in a bio tech field are encouraged to apply for the Governor Minner BioTech Scholarship.
The amount of the award will be based on the student's financial need, academic ability and
leadership traits. The application is due by April 15th.
Name Margaret Stafford Fund
Announcement The Margaret Stafford Scholarship award will be given to one Delaware resident who will
study nursing at a four year college or university. Applicants will be considered based on
academic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need. A short essay explaining
why the applicant wants to pursue the field of nursing is also required. The amount of the
award will be detemined later. Applications are due by April 15th.

Name Keisha Michelle Michael Memorial Award
Announcement Any senior who plans to attend a historically black college or university should apply for the
Keisha Michelle Michael Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must have a gpa of 2.5 or
higher, and must have been active in their community and church. Applicants must
complete a form, send a transcript, obtain two recommendations and submit a one page
personal essay. Deadline is April 19th.
Name Evelyn E. Stricklin Scholarship Fund
Announcement The Evelyn E. Stricklin Scholarship Fund was established to help students in need of
financial assistance pay for college expenses at the University of Delaware. Applicants must
demonstrate financial need. Four year scholarship amounts vary in size, and average 2,000
per year.The application must include a letter of recommendation, a personal statement from
the student and parent. All materials are due by mid-April.
Name Port of Wilmington Maritime Society Scholarship
Announcement Seniors whose parent, grandparent or guardian is employed by any company at the Port of
Wilmington may apply for a $2500 scholarship to help finance their 2 or 4 year college
education. The award is based on financial need, academic performance, leadership and
community involvement. The FAFSA must be filed by late March and the application is

Name Bus & Professional Women's Foundation
Announcement Senior women accepted into college for a business major and have financial need are eligible
to apply for a scholarship sponsored by the Business and Professional Women's Foundation
of DE. Applications are due by April 23rd and require an essay stating the applicant's
objectives for her chosen field and her hopes/plans for her future. This year four $1000
scholarships will be awarded.

Announcement The Rotary Club of Wilmington is offering an academic scholarship of up to $3,500 for a
senior attending college next fall. Applications will be judged on scholastic standing,
extracurricular activities, financial need and leadership potential. An essay, recommendation
and financial aid forms must also be submitted. This scholarship can be renewed for three
years. See your counselor immediately for further information. The deadline is late April.
Name EDiS Generation III Scholarship
Announcement Applications for the 2010 EDiS Generation III Scholarship are now available for seniors who
are interested in studying business and construction related fields. The $1000 award is
renewable and may be used to pursue an Associate's or Bachelor's degree at UD, DelState,
DTCC, Wesley, or Goldey Beacom. Academic achievement, financial need, and field of
study will be considered in selecting the recipient. EDiS employees and their family

Announcement The Wilbur E. Postles Scholarship Fund was established to help students in need of
financial assistance to pay for college expenses. Applicants must have resided in Delaware for

Name B. Davis Scholarship
Announcement The B. Davis Scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all
students currently registered in any post secondary institution. To compete for this $1,000
award, applicants must include your name and the school you are attending this year and
next, your current academic standing and write an essay of less than 1000 words on the
following topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss
whether you believe you possess some or all of these qualities, and describe an experience
where you developed and/or demonstrated some or all of these traits. Your submissions
must be emailed to awards@studentawardsearch.com by the deadline of May 28th.

Announcement College-bound seniors who live in a complex owned by Leon N. Weiner Associates and
managed by Arbor Management are eligible for a scholarship. Students may attend a 2 or 4
year school and awards are up to $2500. An application, two letters of recommendation,
copy of SAT scores and FAFSA must be submitted by the deadline of May 30th. A list of

Announcement Students attending out of state public colleges in 15 southern states because their program of
study is not available at a public college in Delaware may be eligible for in-state tuition

Announcement Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants is offering a $1000 scholarship to a student who will
continue his/her education beyond high school. Juniors and seniors may apply. Applicants
need to submit an essay on one of two topics - What do you see as the long term impact of
our current recession on the average family? How might it affect their future decisions?

Announcement The BigSun Organization is offering $500 scholarships to selected student athletes involved
