The Freedom Riders rode busses across the south to see how the law enforces segregation in public. These riders were often intercepted by angry people and police, who’d attack them. Medgar Evers was killed in 1963; he was the field secretary of NAACP. It acted as the last straw; riots broke out I many different cities like L.A, Chicago, etc. The police would respond back with clubs, or spray the rioters with fire hoses.

The blacks gained the right to vote in 1965, eliminating poll tax, and literacy. This gives all American equal rights.
