The peak of the Civil Rights Movement was in the 1950s & 60s. Martin Luther King was the major influence of many nonviolent protests in the 60s. And in 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed. It illegalized public discrimination; it also shuts down the Jim Crow laws.
