WHAT'S IN THE NEWS? - AIG

Examining current events that are relevant to students' lives will be the focus of this course. People, places, and items in the news will be discussed and explored. Students also will create their own news using home and school events. This course will help them build a concept of the importance of being informed citizens.

ELECTIVE COURSES

GRADES K-2

MATHEMATICS

ALBEBRA ALLEY

This course will explore algebraic topics, which include patterns and pattern rules

functions, variables, and coordinate graphs. Students will explore, build, and

extend patterns, both numerical and geometric and represent these patterns on T-

charts. This course lays the foundation for later, more formal algebraic

experiences.
APPLES AND ORANGES

This course will focus on sorting and classifying items by similarities and differences: sizes, colors, and shapes.


ARCHITECTURE AROUND US

Architecture is everywhere. Students will discover the many forms of architecture and look for patterns in buildings and nature. They will use these discoveries to apply logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will use manipulatives to build architectural structures.
