Global digital and music icon amongst additional speakers confirmed today The Royal Television Society (RTS) has today confirmed that global superstar, producer and digital entrepreneur, will.i.am, will be the closing speaker at its Digital World Conference, which takes place at The Barbican on Friday, 28 September 2012.
The digital media and music guru was among six additional speakers announced today, among them BSkyB’s Chief Operating Officer, Mike Darcey, and BSkyB’s Brand Director, TV, Luke Bradley-Jones; Cindy Rose, Executive Director, Digital Entertainment, Virgin Media; Jeff Ford, Managing Director, Five and Sefton Hill, Game Director and Co-Owner, Rocksteady Studios. The new names will join an already impressive list of media moguls, creatives and politicians, such as Anne Sweeney, Gary Zenkel, Steven Moffat, Dame Tessa Jowell, and Ed Vaizey.
Sponsored by BBC Worldwide, the one day conference is entitled When Worlds Collide – Through the Digital Looking Glassand focuses on the changing face of television as it combines traditional and new content with audience connectivity and integrated social media.
will.i.am has become digital ambassador for a new generation, through his prolific use and advocacy of social media and innovation, and became Intel’s director of creative innovation in 2011. During his closing session, which is sponsored by KPMG, will.i.am will discuss his passion for digital media, share his thoughts on where he thinks this new world will go and offer suggestions to the media industry on how they might better embrace the new opportunities that digital media offers - all delivered in his inimitable style of “shooting from the lip”.
