Demographic uncertainties.

Increases in food and commodity consumption linked to world population are also tied to global wealth creation. Increasing world demand for food, especially meat, will be linked to the level of growth and wealth creation in key countries like China and India. Changes (whether short- or long-term) in dietary preferences in developed countries, e.g., low-carbohydrate diets, could also impact the demand for key agricultural commodities. Aging populations in developed countries may express changed dietary preferences: one could as easily expect to see increased demand for new, “health-improved” products, and/or a trend toward consumption of organic-based products, or to see no particular net shifts.
