SUMMARY:

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for equal rights, seeks an Economic Education Intern for the  NAACP Financial Freedom Campaign Center.  The Intern will assist with the implementation of educational campaigns and strategies on economic issues; and implementing training curricula for adults and youth in the priority areas of the NAACP Economic Program.

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Economic Education Intern works under the direct supervision of the Director of Economic Education. The duties and responsibilities of the Economic Education Intern include, but are not limited to the following:

 


  • Assist the Director of Economic Education with researching key economic issues such as finance, monitoring, fair lending, racial economic injustice and practical information such as, “what is credit” and “home foreclosure”

  • Develop Economic Education curriculum’s based on one of the key areas for the Financial Freedom Campaign Education Series

  • Research and populate National referral database for NAACP units and community members

  • Establish a comprehensive economic education tool-kit and resource manual for units and the community

  • Carry a small case load of NAACP units to provide technical assistance to units to implement financial education workshops and education.

  • Refer NAACP units and participants to economic programs national partners via the referral database

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Economic Education, Senior Director of the Financial Freedom Campaign, EVP/CPO, or President and CEO

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 


  • Some college coursework or equivalent experience, bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience with web organizing/online campaigns and the use of technology and online organizing tools to advance and achieve strategic goals.

  • Ability to handle multiple priority projects and meet established timelines and reporting requirements.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to execute strategic goals, work effectively with state and local leaders and carry out required objectives.

  • Excellent analytical, presentation and leadership skills.
