The accompanying photograph is that of the late Able Seaman Albert Edward Knaggs, 11 Canton Street, Newfoundland Road, who had served for 14 years in the Royal Navy and finished his time on MHS Hart in China after some three years service in Malta. After leaving the service he was a police constable for two and a half years in the West Riding of Yorkshire. When the Commonwealth of Australia was taking over the two submarines AE1 and AE2 he was appointed Able Seaman on the AE2 and went to Australia on February 14, 1915. When war broke out he was sent to the Dardanelles with AE2 in the Sea of Marmora and was captured as a prisoner on the 30th April 1915 with the rest of the crew after the sinking of the AE2 and since that date he has been a prisoner of war at Bilemedik-Pozanti, Turkey. After suffering many hardships he was suddenly taken ill with malarial fever and died on the 9th October 1915. He leaves a wife and one son to mourn his loss, and he died as he had lived, a fine British seaman. His father, Mr Henry Stephen Knaggs, who is in his 85th year, feels the loss of his son very much. Every sympathy is extended to the deceased’s wife, who lost her mother last week.

Woman's plea to 'lovely' daughter
The mother of a 14-year-old schoolgirl who may have disappeared with a lorry driver has appealed to her daughter to return home.

In a statement issued through Warwickshire Police, Lorraine Knaggs urged her daughter, Siobhan Butler, to get in touch.

More than 30 officers are trying to trace Siobhan, who disappeared from her home in Rugby, Warwickshire, seven days ago.
In a message to her "lovely" daughter, Mrs Knaggs said: "I am extremely worried and concerned. Please get in touch."
The 40 year-old mother added that her husband and the girl's grandfather were "very, very worried" about Siobhan's welfare.
Good response
The teenager is reportedly to have recently become friendly with truckers at a lorry park in her home town.
Police are investigating the possibility that the pupil may have left the area with one of the drivers.
A spokesman said a media appeal on Wednesday sparked a good public response but no confirmed sightings of the schoolgirl.
Siobhan was wearing her school blazer when she disappeared after leaving home to go to Bishop Wulstan Catholic School, Rugby, shortly before 8am last Friday.
She has gone missing from home before but has always made contact with her mother. Siobhan is described as 5ft 5in, slim, with collar-length blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Missing girl found safe
Siobhan had been missing for a week
A 14-year-old girl who disappeared from her home a week ago has turned up safe and well, Warwickshire Police have said.

The announcement came just hours after Siobhan Butler's mother appealed for her daughter to return to her home in Rugby, Warwickshire.

Siobhan contacted police on Thursday night from a lorry park in Cannock, Staffordshire.
She was taken to a police station in Warwickshire, where she stayed overnight, and was questioned by officers on Friday morning.
It is not yet known when she will be reunited with her mother, Lorraine Knaggs, 40.
No money
Siobhan had not been seen since she left home for Rugby's Bishop Wulstan Catholic School.
Police were concerned that she had not taken any money with her.
But officers always suspected that she had hitched a lift with a lorry driver.
She is reported to have recently become friendly with drivers at a local lorry park.
The teenager has been missing twice before this year but had always made contact with her mother.
