Year of Mercy YM 02/21/2016

Originally, I set out two different schedules for Edge and Life Teen, but I have combined them. I think we have time for this with each group and I think we can do the same with each group. Feedback is welcome, however.

Lesson/Question for the day:

“How can we better live a life in which we are prayerfully directed towards using our gifts to contribute to the building of a just society?”



Outline:

  1. Justice (empathy) activity –

    1. YM team will hand out food (snacks?) to some of the kids, but only about half of them while the students are coming in to take their seats. We will wait to see if they get upset and, if they don’t say anything, I will probe for a response.

    2. Why are they upset?

      1. The distribution lacks justice (is unjust or unfair)

      2. The selection was completely arbitrary and unequal in treatment of each person.

    3. Catholic Social Teaching recognizes that the world is unjust and asks us to contribute to the building of a just society.

    4. This year, we are being asked to reinvigorate our efforts through prayer and action

      1. Year of Mercy” –

        1. Study and pray the life of Jesus in the Gospels, asking to be directed towards the gifts that allow you to follow his example by…
