One of the most important steps to achieve the greatest potential in life is to monitor attitude and its impact of decisions and mood. Attitude is everything that defines a person. It can create emotion and opportunities as well as changing the perspective of the entire world. Attitude is what makes humans individuals.

Attitude directly controls emotion. It can dictate whether a person feels happy or sad. It creates an enormous feeling of motivation in some while depressing others. My entire life was changed because of an experience with my attitude. When I was in tenth grade I had an overwhelmingly pessimistic feeling towards others. I felt as though my peers at school should stop wasting their lives away with carelessness and stupidity. I myself felt that I should be doing more with my life instead of going through the same motions every day. This attitude carried on for a few months until a peculiar thought struck me. I was the one meddling my life away spending valuable time worrying about others and trying to change my already happy life. This one thought changed my entire attitude towards life. My mood suddenly changed from gloomy and spiritless to excited and energetic. I began gaining life experiences and changing my own lifestyle. This event changed how I saw the world. A simple change in my attitude allowed for so much more out of life. This provided for new opportunities which I was able to achieve.

Every opportunity come which a choice. This leads to problems which can only be overcame by a good attitude. The mindset when approaching the problem is what decides if the problem can be overcome or not. It is often said that believing in yourself can allow anything to be done. I learned this lesson the hard way. After nearly failing two tests in a row in math class, I decided it was time to change the way I prepared for the test. At first I thought there was no way I could come back from this major setback and do better on the next test. I slowly changed my mindset by studying harder and more efficiently. By the time it was test day I knew I would do much better on this test than I had on the previous ones. My entire attitude had shifted from hopeless to confident. This attitude change reflected my test score. I passed the test easily because of a simple choice to change my attitude. Every activity gives back only what is put into it. This theory is one that has helped me progress through life and achieve my goals and activities to their fullest potential. Believing in oneself can go a long way with respect to excelling in life.

Many people mope over simple things that can be easily overcome by a change in attitude. If these people realized that the only thing stopping them from overcoming all their goals was attitude, people would get so much more done in their lives and live so much happier. The more time people spend with a bad attitude, the more time they waste away from their already short lives.
