Allen, Thomas. “One Revolution Two Wars.” Military History (2011): 58-63. (6)
Thomas Allen’s “One Revolution Two Wars” reiterates a common thread in American history, one which, if not for actions in Europe, would not have created the America which is present today. The act of rebellion and revolution are examples of an American freedom that often goes unrecognized. Whether it was the war between the Loyalists and the Patriots, demonstration throughout the sixties and seventies, or the more recent Occupy movements that rocked American culture two years ago the right to organize and ultimately revolt has been a staple to American culture since its foundation. As Allen mentions in his piece, “within the tapestry known as ‘We the People,’ there will always be strands of a defiant, fervent minority”, a minority which we can thank for the freedoms which we experience today.20
