GRIGGSVILLE - PERRY ELEMENTARY & HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A DAY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7th, 2015
IMPORTANT: SCHOOL PHYSICALS AND IMMUNIZATIONS FOR PRE-K, KINDERGARTEN, 6TH GRADE, AND 9TH GRADE ARE DUE NO LATER THAN OCTOBER  15TH. STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED FROM SCHOOL UNTIL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET. THIS IS A STATE LAW.  6TH AND 12TH GRADERS MUST MEET THE MENNIGOCOCCAL VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS. VISION EXAMS FOR KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS ARE ALSO DUE THIS DAY! MULTIPLE LETTERS AND PHONE CALLS HAVE BEEN MADE REGARDING THESE REQUIREMENTS.   

To ANYONE who purchased circus tickets, put a poster in their business window or promoted the Kelly Miller Circus these last few weeks...the GP Athletic Boosters thank you!!  Both shows last night were a complete success and ran very smoothly.  The bleachers may not have been packed full, but there were lots of smiles under the Big Top!! Thanks to Mr. Bourne and the GP Elementary teachers for allowing the kids to watch the tent go up yesterday morning; thank you to Mayor Kent Goewey and the City of Griggsville employees for helping prepare the grounds and to the Western Illinois Fairgrounds for allowing the Big Top to set up.  The Boosters appreciate all of the support from our small, but mighty community!!  THANK YOU!!

American Red Cross Blood Drive sponsored by the Biology and Anatomy/Physiology and classes will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Nichol gym. Please sign up in the office or call 217-833-2352 to schedule an appointment.

Freshman Class Quarterly Dues $25 are due no later than 10/15.

The Scholastic Book Fair is heading our way! It will be at our school November 12th through November19th. There are so many books to choose from for every age of kid: adventure, sci-fi, best-selling, and even “laugh-out-loud” stories. The Book Fair family will be open from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm on school days. We can’t wait to see you there! Everyone is invited to our Book Fair family event on Saturday, November 14th from 8:00 am – 10:00 am during the

Griggsville-Perry Christmas Program’s Sausage/Pancake Breakfast. Mark it on your calendar today! Bring your whole family!

Press Release for today: CH-2 will be closed today starting at 7:00 a.m. for culvert replacement just East of the JBS United entrance near Griggsville.  Entrance to JBS United will need to be from the West during this time.  If construction goes as planned the road should be opened at noon or before. This culvert is the last culvert to be replaced on CH-2.  No further closures on CH-2 are anticipated at this time.  Thank you for your patience. Updates to the construction schedule will be available on WBBA, our website at www.pikehighway.com, or on our Facebook page “Pike County, IL Highway Department”.

Team Impact Volley for Hope will be held Tuesday October 13th at the high school girls’ volleyball game.  We are currently taking donations for this annual event.  Last year we had a wonderful turnout and would love to accomplish that again this year.  You can bring baskets or donations to the Griggsville office any time before the event.  Thank you so much for making this possible for our community! Tickets for the basket raffle will begin to be sold at a later date.  Watch for announcements. 
Ineligible list is due to office no later than 10:45 Friday morning.

The annual Team Impact Craft Show will be held at the Griggsville-Perry Elementary/High School Saturday November 7th from 9AM-3PM.  There is a $25 registration fee. Team Impact will provide a free will donation breakfast and lunch.  There will also be a Variety Show at this year's event!  We are now looking for entries for the Variety Show. There is an entry fee of $15 per act.   There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Interested Vendors or Variety Show Contestants need to contact Kayt Risley at 217-833-2352 or risleyk@griggsvilleperry.org for registration forms. 

On Saturday, November 14th, 8-10:00 AM Griggsville-Perry will be having a Pancake/Sausage Breakfast. Free Will Donation. Proceeds will go to purchase gifts for the Griggsville-Perry Christmas Program. This program is designed to help families within our district to provide a nice Christmas for their student(s). Please contact Jessica Bunch at 217-833-2352 Extension 237 or e-mail at bunchj@griggsvilleperry.org if you have any questions, or if you would like to adopt a child or family in need. 

If you have any old newspapers that you would like to donate, please bring to the elementary school. There is a crate by the office. Thank you!

Sports:

G-P loses to West Central in 2: 25-23 and 27-25. Hope Scott had 7 digs and 8 service points. Peyton Bonds and Lexi Kessinger had 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Record is now 10-9.
Thursday:

Lady Tornadoes at Carrollton starting at 5:00 with a freshman game, followed by the JV and Varsity games. Bus time is 3:30.

PGP Freshman Football at home with Williamsville at 6 p.m.
Friday:

PGP Varsity football at Pleasant Plains at 7 p.m.
Saturday:

Lady Eagles at Southeastern at 10 a.m.

Those that received cash cards that haven’t redeemed them yet need to do so! If you have not received your ducks that you are entitled to please come to the office and ask please do not bother Mr. Cheatum or the teachers with your duck questions. This needs to be done today so that we can get the magazine fundraiser wrapped up! Please wear your ducks on Wednesday for their final feeding. And to win some cash!!!

The Eagles’ Baseball Banquet will be held on Monday, October 12th. The banquet will be at 5:30 pm and be located in the cafeteria in Perry. We ask that each player brings one pizza per family and for everyone to bring their own drinks. All family members are invited! Also, all players please bring your jerseys to the banquet as we will be taking a team picture with everyone in their jerseys. Then, you can turn them in once we are done taking pictures.
