Nile River Civilization Unit

Day 1: Introduction

Description: Today will be the first day of the unit plan, where students will be introduced to the 5 Themes of Geography as well as the Nile River Civilization. Students will first watch a video about the 5 themes, taking notes about each theme. After the video, the whole class will discuss the themes, making sure they have the correct notes for each theme. After they have notes for each theme, the students will do a quick write, jotting down any ideas they have about the Nile River Civilization in Ancient Egypt. Students will share in their groups first, and then offer ideas to the whole class. Students will then watch a short video clip about Ancient Egypt and the Nile River Civilization. This will give them information about the civilization and show them some of the things they will be learning about.

Students can ask questions or comment on something interesting that they learned today.

  • For their final project, students will be creating a ‘Travel Brochure’ about Ancient Egypt.
