St. Martin of Tours Life Teen Ministry of Service Log: 2015-2016

Christian Ministry of Service comes from your own individual talents. Challenge yourself to identify your talents and use them to serve others as best you can.



All service needs to be completed between September 1, 2015 and April 17, 2016 with all service logs due to the Parish Office by April 18, 2016.
Grades 9 and 10: Students who are NOT candidates for confirmation in the Spring of 2016 are expected to complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of documented ministry of service, with a written log kept by the student and monitored by the parents. At least half of your service has to be committed to the Parish.

Confirmation Candidates (Grade 11/12): Students who ARE candidates for Confirmation in the Spring of 2016 are expected to complete a minimum of thirty (30) hours of documented ministry of service, with a written log kept by the student and monitored by the parents. At least half of your service has to be committed to the Parish.

Absences: If a teen has more than one absence per semester, s/he should attend a district speaker night or add five (5) hours to their ministry of service requirement. Please note this on your service log.

The Ministry of Service Coordinator will contact various organizations for their services needs. Look for others on your own. Watch for Email Notifications for opportunities to fulfill service requirements. St. Martin of Tours LIFE TEEN: Ministry of Service Opportunities for Teens and their Families

Why is giving for the benefit of another so important? What might motivate us to give of our time, talent or treasure for the benefit of others? Evaluate the use of your time, talent and treasure and consider the real benefits in sacrificing for others in your parish and local community? Check out the following opportunities to serve below and begin sharing, caring and giving!



  • St. Martin of Tours Parish Labor Day Fair Parking Life Teen Fundraiser –Parent Coordinator is need. Help raise money for Life Teen by volunteering to park cars.

  • St. Martin of Tours Parish Oktoberfest-help with set up, serving and clean up.

  • St. Martin of Tours Parish Feast Day Breakfast-help with set up, serving and clean up.

  • Hospitality Sundays (usually the third Sunday of the month)–help with set up, serving and clean up.

  • Serve at the Southside Meal Program-The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a small parish-orientated organization of men and women who have come together to help their neighbors in need. Each month SMOT volunteers help serve food at the Southside Meal Program. They will serve 225-300 meals to those in need. Baked goods- -especially cupcakes, bars and cookies- are always needed. Contact the Parish Office for any information on how to serve. If not here, find a soup kitchen of your choice and serve.

  • St. Martin Of Tours Parish Food Pantry –Stock Pantry Shelves with food donations from time to time.

  • Collect Box Tops for Education for the St. Martin of Tours School.

  • Breakfast with Santa–help with set up, serving and clean up.

  • Bake cookies for the Craft Fair-Cookie Walk.

  • Celebrate Epiphany Sunday with the parish community by attending the Bilingual Mass and Potluck Lunch! Help with set up, serving and clean up.

  • Check with the Parish School for opportunities to volunteer.

  • Volunteer to help with Liturgy of the Word for Children at Mass on Sundays (8:30 am or 10:30 am)

  • World Day of Prayer”–create a service project for this day/pray for someone else’s needs.

  • Bread for the World Letter Writing”–write a letter to advocate for social change.

  • Pedal for the Pantry Fundraiser–Food Pantry Fundraiser

  • Grand March- Volunteer to help with our annual Parish Fundraiser

  • Find a library program near you and spend time reading to young children.

  • Make dinner to help at home or even to help your neighbors/friends in a time of need.

  • Clean up a public park (including the St. Martin of Tours Parish Grounds and Cemetery).

  • Volunteer you time for childcare (check local elementary schools/St. Martin of Tours Parish School for opportunities).

  • Work for the purpose of donating some of your salary to a charity.

  • Help a neighbor with cleaning, snow removal, or lawn work.

  • Visit with a person who is elderly or house bound.

  • Train to be a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server or Sacristan at our Parish.
