Persuasive Essay Pd. 7

Shelby VS ZL1

The ear-splitting sound is so recognizable while the two great muscle cars of the past are reborn zooming down the asphalt. One of the most well-known rivalries is brought back from the past and finally settled. The 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and the 2013 Camaro ZL1 are the competitors in this decades old event. However it is hardly a competition anymore because the Shelby is far superior.

Ford has outdone themselves with this brand new beast of a pony and has stampeded the ZL1 right into the dirt. The 2013 Camaro has a 6.2 Liter supercharged V-8 engine that comes in right at 580 horsepower but this is still no match for the new GT500 (Barely Street Legal). This new powerful little pony really packs a punch with a 5.8 Liter supercharged V-8 engine that destroys its rival Camaro’s 580 horsepower with a whopping 650 horsepower. Ford claims this to be the most powerful production V-8 in the entire world and the first mustang to reach a top speed of 200 mph plus on a track (Shelby GT500). The price is also where the Mustang excels. The top of the line GT500 costs $60,000 compared to the Camaro’s top of the line $59,710 price tag (Barely Street Legal, Shelby GT500). So, for exactly $290 more customers can have a far more superior car that will definitely have everyone’s heads turning around backwards to check it out. Although the 2013 Camaro steps up its game from the previous model the Shelby still manages to find a way to one up the Camaro in terms of handling. The 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby offers Bilstein electronic cockpit adjustable dampers, Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS), and even AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control (ESC)(Shelby GT500). All of these features really allow the driver to drive the car how they feel like driving such as if they’re in the mood for a quick little joy ride or if they have to pick their daughter up from preschool. The new Shelby is for everyone and especially car enthusiasts. Also, the pony only comes with a TREMEC® 6-speed manual transmission which is ideal for that muscle car lover (Shelby GT500). Nothing says American Muscle like a nice manual transmission. With all of this power though how is this Shelby supposed to stop? Well Ford figured that out too by equipping this horse with Brembo 6-piston front brakes. The exterior of the GT500 also is much nicer looking with a new unique front end with a new aggressive splitter and a new rear lower fascia. It also includes an aluminum hood with heat extractors (Shelby GT500). The appearance of the Shelby has improved drastically from the previous models as opposed to the same appearance of the boring Camaro. Even the interior is far greater. The pony’s interior includes a one-piece instrument panel and a shifter featuring a modern yet very retro type of look. The seats even add to that muscle car feel with its comfy and supportive race inspired RECARO® integrated seats (Shelby GT500). The GT500 is clearly more powerful, better looking, comfy, and just more fun with its handling capabilities.

Although the Mustang and Camaro used to have many intense competitions it can hardly be considered a competition anymore, because the GT500 will clearly be the victor. So this car is for everyone whether they are a muscle car enthusiast, a lover of all cars, a person looking to show off, a soccer mom, or even a Chevrolet die hard. Nobody can deny the facts that this car is truly incredible and that the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is no match for the superior 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT00.
