The Tennessee Valley authority--the TVA--was given unprecedented powers over a huge portion of the southeastern United States. 40-thousandsquare miles were involved. Nearly all of Tennessee, and parts of Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Roosevelt included the entire Tennessee River, all 652 miles, as well as thousands of miles of tributaries. An entire watershed.
