Mrs Elliott said that as Nurse Baters was beyond the hospital precinct, the Commercial Union Assurance CO would not allow any compensation under the employer’s liability.

Mrs Stanley Thomas of Stover, Yate, was admitted 1 Aug at 30/- a week plus 30/- midwifery fee. Her baby girl was born the same day.

Mrs Sybil Skinner of Frampton Cotterell was admitted 6 Aug at 3gns a week & 30/- midwifery fee. Her baby boy born same day.

Mrs Annie Young of Clifton, sent by the BGH, was admitted 4 Aug; payment of 21/- a week guaranteed by the BGH.

Mrs Barnet of High St, Iron Acton, admitted 6 Aug at 30/- a week plus 30/- midwifery fee. Her baby boy was born the same day.
