Mary Todd Lincoln was a well educated women form a wealthy family. She was just a bystander to Lincoln’s death, but she did a great amount of work to keep him alive after he was shot. The Lincolns were enjoying a comedy at Ford’s Theatre when John Wilkes Booth creped up silently behind Lincoln, raised his gun to the back of his head, and fired the deadly bullet. Mary did anything she could to stop the bleeding and keep Lincoln’s lifeless body from completely passing into death, but it was inevitable because of the well aimed shot that Booth took.
