Ralph D. Watkins, 87, Danville, Ill., passed away at 11:57 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Provena United Samaritan Medical Center, Danville.
He was born on January 6, 1918 in Decatur, Ill. to Ernest and Lella Watkins. Watkins retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad, Peru, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his former wife, Martha Jane Watkins; one sister, Erna Murray, Washington, D.C.; three sons, Noble Watkins and wife Melissa, Deerfield, Fla., Ralph Watkins, Jr., and Mark J. Watkins and wife Therese, each of Peru; four daughters, Glenda Hoffman and husband Ron, Key West, Fla., Lisa Wagner and husband Steven, Peru, Linda Saylors and husband Terry, Bunker Hill, and Cinda Elrod and husband Glen, Brandon Suffolk, England; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister; an infant daughter; and an infant grandson.
Funeral services were conducted in Danville on March 7, 2005.
