Richard "Dick" William Nance, 80, Peru, passed away at 4:08 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis.

He was born Oct. 13, 1924 in West Point to Carl and Leona Coffman Nance. On Oct. 20, 1944, he married Frances Helen Haskin in Lafayette, who preceded in death on April 8, 2004.

Nance graduated from Wolcott High School in 1945, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Submarine Veterans of WWII and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3790.

He retired in 1985 from the C&O Railroad after 30 years of service.

Survivors include one son, Dick Nance and wife Cheryl, Logansport; one daughter, Donna Scott, New Waverly; two sisters, Delores Pullen, Washington, and Beverly Howard, Lafayette; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport, with the Rev. Scott Ellison officiating. Burial with full military graveside rites will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
