MAO ZEDONG MAO IS IMPORTANT FOR SEVERAL REASONS (BESIDES HAVING A HUGE WART ON HIS FACE)
The Great Leap Forward (A disastrous farm collectivization practice that made 40 million people starve to death)
The Cultural Revolution ( A social cleansing that killed 5 million teachers, managers, writers, artists, students, and whoever else Mao pleased)
THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD (1958) What was it : A 12-year plan that collectivized all the farms. (Just like papa Stalin) The consequence: A famine that killed 30-50 million Chinese (Just like Papa Stalin. Except his killed 8,000,000) WHAT WAS IT EXACTLY
Mao wanted China to increase production of 2 things; steel and wheat.
Well, we already know what happens to fruit and vegetable production when you collectivize the farms. Lenin found this out way back in 1920 and started his New Economic Plan as a result. Yet both Mao and Stalin didn’t take IB History so….8 million dead in Russia. 40 million dead in China.
Farmers would lie about how much wheat they produced or even how much wheat they could produce. If you lied, you got a better job.
People were so hungry that they resorted to kidnapping babies and using them for food.
People would fall down dead in the streets starving.
Mao not once said anything was wrong.
In addition, because of all the Communist propaganda going on, no one even really knew what was happening. And even if they did know, they CERTAINLY didn’t think it was Mao’s fault. They probably thought it was the West, or the Americans. Don’t EVER underestimate the power of propaganda, even in the United States.
There were radio programs, newspaper articles, magazine articles etc. all devoted to communicating how ell things were going, how MAO was a God, and how America was Satan!
Finally, Mao owed other countries like Russia and Canada grain, so he would send what the Chinese did have overseas. He didn’t want to LOSE FACE, and that was more important than starvation.
We will watch a 1-Hour Documentary on the Great Leap Forward
Mao also wanted to increase steel production. But instead of investing in actual steel factories with intelligent steel managers, Mao made EVERY SINGLE FAMILY build small steel furnace in their backyards.
The village children had to go around the village and countryside and get EVERYTHING that would burn and throw it in the fire.
Cooking pots, spoons, metal objects whatever.
In addition, they destroyed all the forests so they could use all the trees for fuel.
And Mao forgot one very important thing:WHEN YOU MAKE STEEL IN SMALL FURNACES IN YOUR BACKYARD, IT SUCKS!!!!
Finally, since everyone was making steel, no one was actually farming so the famine went from 40 million to 50 million.
Again, Mao took NO BLAME.
Side Note: As Chairman Mao famously once said, “What difference does it make if we have a nuclear war? So, 500 million Chinese people will die. WE HAVE 500 MILLION MORE!!!!!! This is when Russia started thinking they had a madman on their hands. Russia was happy with Eisenhower’s idea of MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION. China couldn’t care less! PART 2: The Cultural Revolution
Ah, how the Communists hate intellectuals.
If you are a teacher, a professor, an artist, a businessman you are AN ENEMY OF THE STATE. You must be killed!
Only peasants are the fruit of the earth. The rest of you are counter-revolutionaries, bourgeoisie, middle class scum and you will be re-educated!
(TEACHERS, ARTISTS, STUDENTS, ENGINEERS ETC.) THE RED GUARDS AND MAO’S LITTLE RED BOOK
Mao Zedong and his crazy %^&*^ of a wife told all the stupid teenagers that there Communism’ soldiers and musty “CARRY OUT THE REVOLUTION”.
Well, they didn’t want to go to school anyway, ½ couldn’t read (like 4th hour) and went happily along bludgeoning people to death and destroying 1000 year old books and temples.
The burning of books, the destruction of ancient Buddhist statues, people’s execution IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET.This is what Mao told everyone Communism was all about. He knew that an ignorant population needs only 2 things; an enemy and a distraction!
When they started killing the factory managers, the factories started to suck!
And when they sent engineers to the countryside to plant turnips…….Well, you get the idea!
CULT OF PERSONALITY:
Mao and Stalin both had what were known as having Cults of Personality. This juts means that there were statues of Shtrakhman everywhere, paintings of Shtrakhman everywhere, posters of Shtrakhman everywhere etc.
MAO’S LITTLE RED BOOK
All of these eager faced teenagers kept a copy of Chairman Mao’s Little Red Book, detailing EXACTLY what your Communist thoughts and actions should be. Mostly it was kill the smart guy.
IT SAID THINGS LIKE
Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.
Communism is not love. Communism is a hammer which we use to crush the enemy.
Women hold up half the sky.
Religion is the opiate of the masses.
The atom bomb is a paper tiger which the United States reactionaries use to scare people. It looks terrible, but in fact it isn't.
And you mean after the Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward the economy started to collapse. How odd! The Cultural Revolution will forever be remembered as the ten lost years By now people really started to think that Mao was crazy.
In 1976, he dies of Parkinson’s disease 1976: MAO DIES AND A REFORMER NAMED DENG XIAOPING (JOW-PING) TAKES OVER 1.Mao will be on Paper #2 and Paper #3
2.Deng Xiaoping will be on Paper #1
