COURSES IN RELATED FIELDS (15 credits)

15 semester hours must be chosen with your advisor. Six (6) hours must be in CHI or KOR prefix courses, such as Chinese language and calligraphy, Chinese literature in translation (CHI 321, 322 or FLA 420), or Korean language and culture. At least 3 hours must be in an approved course that provides an overview of Japanese history. The remaining 6 hours may consist of appropriate courses in Art, Humanities, Linguistics, Literature, Public Programs, Social/ Behavioral Sciences, Sciences, or International Business.

NOTES FOR MAJOR:

  • A grade of C or better must be achieved in all courses to be counted toward the major and related fields.

  • A minimum of 12 upper-division hours in the major must be taken in residence at ASU Main.

  • Pass/Fail courses cannot be used for the major or related courses.

  • JPN 101 and JPN 102 do not count towards the major.

  • JPN 313 and JPN 314 must be taken in sequence.

  • No more than 8 credits from JPN 309, 310, 311, 312 may be used for the major.
