Assessment - Informal


The teacher will watch the students in the mill store and determine whether they understand the meaning of tokens.  The students should determine whether they were given the correct amount of change and whether they paid the correct amount or not. 

Assessment - Formal


After the simulation the students will be expected to write a reflection including information from textile mill life, examples from the activity, experience in the store, what they decided to buy with the week's salary, and their opinion on the worker's salary (Was it enough?).  The reflection will be scored on the attached rubric.

Later in the unit they will be tested on their knowledge of mills and different communities.
