Intellectual origins of postmodern thinking
they do not work from scratch those but are inspired by people who thought about this issue before them, particularly those who problematized the relationship between language and reality such as the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and Ludwig Wittgenstein who had established a sophisticated thinking around the question of language and human reality.

Besides these philosophers, very important for postmodernists are linguistic scholars of the turn of the century


One Swiss scholar we need to focus on more detail, the Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure.
