Homework/Extension: Try the prewriting activity of asking questions in response to the prompt, create five questions to ask yourself, and perhaps others, as a prewriting exercise. Due tomorrow (Day 3 in series). Also, bring in current work of literature.

Evidence of Accomplishment/Student work: Student-created free-writes and questions that generate ideas for writing.

Writing Process: Talking and Listening Lesson

Third Lesson in a Weeklong Series of Five Lessons
Lesson Objective: To use the writing process by practicing the prewriting activity of talking and listening.

Aim: To explore our writing prompt by discussing our possible argument and examples in small groups.

ELA Standard: ELA HS Writing Core Performance Indicators: Use the writing process (e.g. prewriting, drafting, revising, proofreading, and editing) and Use prewriting activities (e.g., brainstorming, freewriting, note taking, outlining, and paragraphing)

Materials: Current work of literature that the class is reading.
