Lesson: Constructing an MLA Works Cited Page
Lesson Objective: To use both primary and secondary sources of information for research by creating an MLA-style Works Cited Page.

Aim: To practice creating an MLA-style Works Cited Page .

ELA Standard: 10th Grade Writing Performance Indicator: Standard 1: Students will read, write, listen and speak for information and understanding (Performance Indicator: Use both primary and secondary sources of information for research).

Core Performance Indicator: Use dictionaries, thesauruses, and style manuals.

Materials: A guide that details MLA citations, such as The Bedford Handbook by Diane Hacker, a sample works cited page, and various books and articles. This should include both primary and secondary sources, in the form of articles and books that allow students to practice different types of citations, including editors, anthologies, books that are translated, articles from online sources, etc.
