Indigenous Culture Support Program funding 2010-11
Indigenous Culture Support Program 2010-11
The Indigenous Culture Support Program (ICS) supports the maintenance and continued development of Indigenous culture in communities. The Program places an emphasis on building community sustainability, with members of Indigenous communities participating in cultural activities and passing on knowledge and skills across age groups.
The ICS Program supports a wide range of cultural projects. These include a young mothers’ cultural program, multimedia workshops in cities and remote areas, traditional art and craft production, dance and theatre productions and community festivals across Australia showcasing Indigenous talent, particularly events featuring young musicians.
The Department assessed 286 projects seeking an amount of $29.606 million in funding. A total of 126 projects were approved for $6.758 million.
Projects receiving funding have been assessed in accordance with the ICS Program guidelines and will contribute to the maintenance and continued development of Indigenous culture in communities.
For the second time triennial funding was offered under the Indigenous Arts and Culture Programs for organisations that were able to demonstrate a history of excellent performance against the Program objectives, or could demonstrate potential for outstanding achievement and development.
