India became the first developing country to extend duty free quota free (DFQF) access to all least developed countries (LDCs) in line with the WTO's Hong Kong Ministerial mandate. India's Duty Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) Scheme for LDCs came into effect in AprilĀ 2008 with tariff reductions spread over five years. This Scheme covers about 92.5% of global exports of all LDCs and provides duty free and preferential tariff access on 94% of India's tariff lines; 27 countries (19 of which are from Africa) are already availing of the market access and the rest are in the process of completing their documentation for joining the scheme.
