Tupac’s life and death provided the inspiration for this piece by Abdelaziz Sarrokh, who was born in the same year, 1972, and is a Belgian of Moroccan origin. As a streetworker in Ghent, Sarrokh saw how his friends had to carry on a struggle for life to survive in a sometimes intolerant environment. He danced for Alain Platel’s Les Ballets C. de la B. and was given the opportunity by Berchem Cultural Centre to set up his own company, called ‘Hush Hush Hush’. After 4 productions, the company is now well on the way to an international breakthrough. What is more, their dynamism draws much younger audiences into the theatres.
