Supplies: The Choose Truth His Story Board Sign (print from gemsgc.org), an index card for each girl and markers, a stationary or portable bulletin board or wall that papers can be adhered to, Christmas lights, a camera
Preparation: Hang the Christmas lights around the His Story Board and have them plugged in when girls arrive
Pictures: Slide 2 of His Story Board PP.pptx (download from gemsgc.org)
Activity:

  • Girls should write their name on an index card and adhere it to the wall

  • Then take individual pictures of the girls and counselors! Print the pics and replace the index card with their pic. If new girls join throughout the year, take their pictures too. Your wall should contain individual pictures of all girls and counselors



October: Stick Scripture in Your Heart
Supplies: Stick Scripture in Your Heart Label (page 2 in this document), 3 cans/jars, Stick Scripture in Your Heart Memory Verse Sheet (page 3 in this document), and a Bible. You will need one wide craft stick, marker, and sticky candy (hard candy or lollypops) for each girl
Preparation:

  • Attach the Promise Label to one can/jar and put wide craft sticks in it

  • In the second can/jar put markers

  • In the third can/jar put hard candy/lollypops

  • Print the Stick Scripture in Your Heart Memory Verse Sheet

  • Set the jars, Bible, and Memory Verse Sheet near the His Story Board

Activity:

  • Greet the girls as they arrive and have them choose a Scripture verse from the Stick Scripture in Your Heart Memory Verse Sheet that they will memorize this week. (They can look in the Bible if they want to choose a different verse or look up the verses listed.)

  • Girls should write the address on the craft stick and take the stick with them.

  • Girls should take one sticky candy to remind them to stick the verse in their hearts!

November: Pick a Promise Jar
Note: This activity ties in well to November Lessons in Sparkle and SHINE brightly.
Supplies: Pick a Promise Label (page 4 in this document), a glass jar, Bible Promises Sheet (pages 5-7 in this document), colored or patterned copy paper
Preparation:

  • Attach the Promise Label to the jar

  • Print the Promise Sheet on colored or on the back side of patterned copy paper (you will need one promise per girl in your club)

  • Fold the promises compact, accordion style and place in jar

  • Set the jar near the His Story Board

  • Tell girls to greet other girls as they arrive. They should share the promise they picked with at least two other girls

God’s promise: God will stick close to you when you are sad.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18



God’s promise: You need not fear. God is near!

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 118:6



God’s promise: Jesus will always be there for you!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28



God’s promise: God hears your prayers!

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Luke 11:9



God’s promise: God will give you strength!

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13



God’s promise: God will forgive you! If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. Psalm 142:1



God’s promise: You can talk to God about anything! Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6



God’s promise: God’s timing is good!

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?



God’s promise: Nothing can separate you from Him! Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39



God’s promise: Nothing is too hard for God! Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27



God’s promise: Jesus understands you! Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:4



God’s promise: God forgives you!

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12



God’s promise: God cares about you! Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26



God’s promise: God’s help is near!

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1



God’s promise: You can be bold when you talk to God! Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16



God’s promise: God is crazy about you!

And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:30



God’s promise: Jesus will never leave you!

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. Hebrews 13:5



God’s promise: You do not need to panic! I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33



God’s promise: God will take care of you!

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this. Psalm 37:5




God’s promise: You belong to God’s family forever! See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1



God’s promise: You have God’s great power in you! You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4



God’s promise: You are His friend! I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends. John 15:15



God’s promise: God will give you hope and courage!

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24



God’s promise: God comes near you!

Come near to God and he will come near to you. James 4:8



God’s promise: God will give you what you need when you need it!

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9



God’s promise: God is for you!

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31



God’s promise: God knows you by name!

See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. Isaiah 49:16



God’s promise: God is doing a good work in you! (And He’s not finished yet!)

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phil 1:6



God’s promise: God will always take care of you! Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isa 46:4



God’s promise: God helps you everyday!

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Psalm 68:19




December: Books of the Bible Chain
Supplies: Books of the Bible Chain Links (download from gemsgc.org), 7 pink (or red) sheets and 7 green sheets of copy paper, (or you can use construction paper and write the books of the Bible by hand on each chain link), a glue stick or tape, and a Bible
Preparation:

  • Prepare the 66 chain links by printing the Books of the Bible Chain document on pink (or red) and green paper (go every other sheet) or cutting construction paper and handwriting each book of the Bible on one link

  • Set the chain links and Bible near the His Story Board

Activity:

  • Greet the girls as they arrive and have them pick the book of the Bible that goes next in the chain link. The first girl needs to find the book of Genesis, the second girl Exodus, and so on.

  • If you know the approximate number of girls that come to club, divide that number by 66. As best as possible have the chain completed by the time all girls arrive.

  • Keep the Bible open to the contents page in case girls struggle to know what book comes next!

  • Hang the completed chain near the His Story Board



January: Pray Scripture
Supplies: Pray Scripture label (page 9 in this document), a recipe box (or a similar size box), Scripture Prayer Sheet (pages 10- 12 in this document), print on cardstock
Preparation:

  • Attach the Pray Scripture Label to the box

  • Print the Scripture Prayers on cardstock and cut (you will need one prayer per girl in your club)

  • Place cards in box

  • Set the box near the His Story Board

Activity:

  • Greet the girls as they arrive and have them pick a prayer from the jar

  • Tell girls to greet other girls as they arrive. They should pray this prayer aloud with at least two other girls (personalizing their names!)

  • Around the sign place the chocolate or candy hearts in the shape of a heart

  • Set the table near the His Story Board

Supplies: God Rescues Us! sign (page 16 in this document), colored Lifesavers® candy (one per every girl/counselor), markers/colors/colored pencils
Preparation:

  • Place the God Rescues Us! sign in the middle of a table

  • Use markers/colors/colored pencils to fill in the circles to correspond with the colors of available candy

  • Place the candy in a bowl near the sign

  • Set the table near the His Story Board

  • Use the markers to write: God’s Word is a lamp for our feet and a light on our path!
