Killing Flies: The Morgue This is an unfortunate necessity when using flies. A bottle or beaker with soapy water or mineral oil is generally used. Dump anesthetized flies directly into the soapy water or mineral oil where they drown. A bottle (beaker or screw-capped jar) filled with ethanol or isopropanol can also be used as a morgue.
