Suskind, Patrick

Perfume : the story of a murder. 1986. Read by Norma West, 8 hours 44 minutes. TB 6725.

Jean-Baptiste Grenouille was born under a fishmonger's slab in 18th century Paris shortly before his mother was executed for murder. He was handicapped but gifted from the start for he had no smell of his own which made people reject him, yet his sense of smell was exceptionally sharp. A chance meeting with an ageing parfumier on the Pont au Change sets him on the road to fame - and on the bloody path to murder. TB 6725.
