Aiden and Conner come into the scene, tired and wearing ranching (cowboy) gear with the whole get up…boots and all!

Aiden: (kissing Patricia) Is someone speaking of us??

Patricia: We were remembering that today is nine years since….since

Aiden: The Lake Superior tragedy. I know, we spoke of it in our morning prayer.

Patricia: yes

Conner: The sailors that gave of themselves so that we could survive…I am grateful to them

Bridget: My sisters also perished. (defiantly)

Conner: I know, (holding her) many lives were lost that day. We must cherish the time we have here.

Bridget: I just do not want my sisters to be forgotten.

Kevin: Bridget, they will always be remembered. We keep them in our hearts and your Isabel is the spiting image of Colleen.

Aiden: This ranch is known all over Michigan. The four sister’s ranch and that means you and Patricia, and Colleen and Katherine. I think of them every time I hear the name of this place.

Conner: That’s right. We all remember them every day. I only knew them a short time but with all the stories and songs you all share I feel as though they are also my sisters.

Bridget: Conner, you always seem to know what to say. Thank you.

Kevin: We have our sorrows and we have our joys, we can only hope that our joy outweighs our sorrows.

Patricia: Spoken like the poet you are my dearest brother.

Kevin: Katherine and Colleen are here with us. They cannot be separated by us. For they live in us.

(The two dead sisters are standing behind Bridget and Patricia.)

Scene 13:

(AJ Foster is old and having a difficult time moving. He is coughing and feels as though he is going to die.)

AJ: Abigail, I am so afraid. I have spent my life trying to do right by the death of mother and you.  I was absent for mother's death, and I was unable to save you.  I am afraid.  I do not want to die.  I do not want to be alone.

Abigail: AJ, you are not alone. You have never been alone.

AJ: I have become delusional in my final stages.

Abigail: AJ, you are not imagining this. I am here, and you are ready. We are both here.

AJ: Abby, I am sorry

Abigail: There is no need for apologies, there is no sorrow here….come you are ready

Scene 14: ABSTRACT

EVERYONE singing “The Parting Glass” and slowly the lights go out on everyone with just a few singing alone and then just one singing…………..

The Parting Glass, Irish folk song

Of all the money that e'er I spent
I've spent it in good company
And all the harm that ever I did
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all

Oh, all the comrades that e'er I had

They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be with you all

Good night and joy be with you all
