Guidelines:

1) Find five resources, with at least one of each of the following types: book (or chapter of a book), journal article (if you choose to do more than one, at least one must be a non-online resource), an authoritative, scholarly World Wide Web site (not a journal!) for each level.


2) Place an asterisk before the resource in which you have a particular interest.
3) Explore a wide range of topics, i.e., do not cite resources about the same issue.
4) Consult Lunsford (pages 380-409) for the proper MLA documentation style. Place the page number as well as the item number from the Lunsford handbook for the type of resource in the space provided before the citation for each item that you have chosen. Your citation should perfectly match this model. Be sure to consult the prose text that appears under each Lunsford item. Read the Source Maps (for books, articles from periodicals, and articles from databases, and works from Web sites) peppered throughout that chapter for additional assistance.
5) Please word process this assignment; double space your "brief descriptions."
6) Each "brief description of the topic" must contain at least three sentences as well as about sixty words.
7) This assignment for the first two levels will be returned for revision if the format of MLA citations is not perfectly correct; for levels three and four, each MLA citation error is worth one point to a possible 15 points, the value of the entire assignment. For these last two assignments, you will not have the opportunity to revise; by this time, you should have mastered MLA citation format.
