What Is A Critique? A critique in art is an oral or written discussion intended to describe, analyze, interpret and judge a piece of art work. Describe What do you see in the picture? What colors did the artist use? Is it realistic or abstract? Is there a description by the art work? Analyze What elements of art are used in the art work? How was the piece of art made? What is the subject matter (people, animals, objects, buildings) doing in the picture? Interpret How does the art make you feel when you look at it? Does it remind you of something you have experienced? What do you think the artist is trying to say? Judge Do you like it or not like it? Why? What makes it successful? What makes it a failure?
