My name is ____ and I am a constituent of the Representative as well as a member of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). On behalf of CCFA, I would like to talk with you about inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and how your office can be supportive of our patient community.
(Briefly tell your story about living with IBD). I would like to take this opportunity to encourage the representative to join the Congressional Crohn’s and Colitis Caucus. This bipartisan caucus is co-chaired by Reps. Ander Crenshaw (R-FL) and Nita Lowey (D-NY). The caucus will work to promote awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, the need for expanded research at the National Institutes of Health and public health awareness at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the importance of promoting accessible insurance and disability coverage for the IBD patient population.
Please contact Catherine Skitsko in Rep. Crenshaw’s office (x5-2501 – Catherine.Skitsko@mail.house.gov) or Dana Miller in Rep. Lowey’s office (x5-6506 – Dana.Miller@mail.house.gov) to join the caucus or request additional information.
I would like to encourage the Representative to support:
1) $32 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and support the NIH IBD research portfolio
2) $680,000 for the IBD epidemiology program at CDC in FY16
3) $250 million for the Department of Defense peer-reviewed medical research program and inclusion of IBD as an eligible disease for study in the program.
Please co-sponsor the Patients’ Access to Treatments Act by contacting Devon Seibert in Rep. David McKinley’s office at (x5-4172 – Devon.Seibert@mail.house.gov) or Devin McBrayer in Rep. Capps’ office at (x5-3601 – Devin.email@example.com).
Thank you again for your time and consideration. Please inform me of the representative’s decision regarding membership in the Caucus and our funding priorities. My family is counting on your support!
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
