Question 2

Is seven per cent an appropriate level of charge for this personalised service?

Enforcement charges

  1. Where non-resident parents fail to keep up to date with their maintenance payments and we have to take expensive enforcement action, we will levy
an enforcement charge against the non-resident parent.

  2. The charge will be related to the severity of the action being taken,
therefore the more severe the action, the higher the charge. We have set
the enforcement charge up in this way to bring about a behavioural change
in non-resident parents who might otherwise become non-compliant

Question 3

In focusing on the severity of the enforcement action, rather than the actual cost, have we adopted the right approach to enforcement charging?
