in the Congress Center Düsseldorf Süd, 10th January 2013 With sales markets flat in many parts of Europe, the international yachting and water sports business is concentrating its exhibition activities on boot Düsseldorf. The relatively stable German market and Europe's central exhibition venue are considered a safe harbour for firms and will ensure a good turnout in the halls of the Düsseldorf exhibition grounds. Around 1,650 exhibitors from 63 countries will be presenting their new boat models and product innovations in all water sport disciplines - from fishing rods to superyachts at the 44th boot Düsseldorf to be held between 19th and 27th January. They will be filling 17 halls with a total exhibition floor space of 213,000 square metres. 1,700 boats and yachts are moored at the big Düsseldorf harbour grounds. We are anticipating a slight increase in the numbers of participants and the stand area rented to exhibitors in the low single-digits. This means boot 2013 is able to follow up ideally on last year's successful event.
Position in the exhibition market strengthened
We have strengthened our position in the international exhibition market. The industry's exhibition season in the second half of 2012 was overall restrained. Many events, both national and international ones, had to absorb heavy losses in places. One thing we consider a given: the market is not giving us strong growth at the moment! Still, we have attained important goals and are charting a course for the future. The event has impeccable quality. At boot 2013 everything the international public might expect will be on show, especially in the boats and yachts segment. You can expect many innovations with some newcomers too and returning exhibitors from the yachting scene. We have successfully stabilised and further developed important sectors for the overall event concept. Once more we have also been able to allocate considerable funds to the advanced promotion of boot and for the mise-en-scène in the halls. This is recognised and respected by the industry and overall makes us their first choice.
Together with the 900 German and 750 international exhibitors, we are confident the exhibition will prove a success with German consumers willing to reach into their pockets, as well as approx. 50,000 high-calibre visitors from abroad which boot Düsseldorf can attract year on year.
Wide range of international brands
In the halls, customers can expect a wide range of international brands in almost all sectors. There is a wide range of countries present. The largest exhibitor country is the Netherlands with 130 shipyards, equipment suppliers and service providers represented, followed by Italy, France, the UK, and Poland.
Joint representations from important shipbuilding nations are making a comeback. Countries such as Great Britain, Finland, France, Netherlands, Poland and Hungary will be represented with country-specific shows as well as a multitude of individual stands.
Boats and yachts: What's on offer has no equal indoors
At the heart of boot Düsseldorf are the boats and yachts, powered by sails, engines, even muscle power. In eleven halls, 440 shipyards, dealers and importers will be exhibiting a range of boat types which has no equal indoors, from canoes and dinghies to luxury yachts and floating relics.
We have extended the sailing boat show in Halls 16 and 17 to include the small but exclusive multihull sailing boat segment in Hall 15 as its own exhibition area. Catamarans and trimarans of all shapes and sizes will be on show, including numerous new models. At boot 2013, the segment has a new Cat lounge with restaurant area, allowing customers to meet and exchange information. The multihull forum has all the information you need to know about sailing with catamarans and trimarans.
In the motorboat and poweryacht area, 250 exhibitors across six halls ensure a representative overview of motorised boat sports. In Hall 4, we are paying homage to the trend in environmentally-friendly engines for the first time. Boats with electric and hybrid engines are on show in a floor space of 500 square metres.
Luxury segment stabilised
With around 40 large and well-equipped yachts, boats and tenders from the high-end sector, the level of product offerings in the luxury segment in Hall 6 has stabilised. Whether it be Azimut, Ferretti, Princess or Riva: For the big names in the world of luxury yachts, there's nothing like the boot Düsseldorf.
New or returning shipyards include Monte Fino, Marquis Yachts and Prestige. Amongst the very big yachts, Sunseeker, Princess and Ferretti offer a wide range of models and innovations. This year, 30 yachts are sailing to Düsseldorf and will be coming ashore with a little help from "Big Willi". The crane is already hard at work. With the Princess 98’ motor-yacht which arrived in Düsseldorf on 7th January, boot is making a return to the 30 metre class.
Düsseldorf's Superyacht Show in hall 7a is popular as always. 100 exhibitors will be demonstrating their competence in the development of exclusive yacht construction projects, as well as showing their latest plans and models at the info stands, and giving information about industry-relevant services.
Refits are all the rage
Maintaining the value of existing boats is all the rage. The trend is to refit. The boot equipment market stands to benefit considerably. Everything you need for and on the boat can be found in Halls 11 and 12: On-board electronics, engines, accessories, clothing and marina equipment. 360 international exhibitors are offering everything you need and could possibly want to liven up boats or improve the comfort of furnishings.
Diving: full speed ahead to boot 2013
The diving sport industry and providers of diving holidays are also making their way to boot 2013 at full speed At the world's largest consumer show for diving sports in Hall 3, 350 exhibitors will be presenting new equipment, attractive diving holiday destinations, and also providing information about diving instruction and safety. Well-known companies from the equipment segment have extended their presentations. As part of a large communal stand, the Philippines, the Maldives, Indonesia, Italy and Turkey are recommended diving holiday destinations. Despite the troubled political climate, Egypt is still represented with 20 exhibitors. With PADI, SSI, the International Aquanautic Club (IAC) and the Verband Deutscher Sporttaucher (VDST) in attendance, the major diving instruction firms are all present and correct.
"Underwater Pixel World" is now "Water Pixel World"
There something new going on in neighbouring Hall 4. The joint area of film and photography is developing nicely. It is not only proving of great interest to divers but also other water sports enthusiasts and hobby photographers active in leisure pursuits. This encouraged us to further develop this area together with the industry association SPECTARIS for Imaging + Photo-technology as an ideal partner. In 2013, at the "Underwater Pixel World", manufacturers of action and outdoor cameras have joined the suppliers of underwater cameras on the presentation stage. In the "Water Pixel World", 35 exhibitors from the photography- and underwater photography industry will be presenting their innovations, including Gopro, Minox, Olympus and Rollei.
Youngsters brought back on board
Thanks to the trend sports market in Halls 1 and 2 and the "Beach World" world of experience, boot has brought back young visitors through the door. Industry and trade are also enthusiastic about the many possibilities for trying out trend sports such as wakeboarding, stand-up paddling and skimboarding, in the indoor pool and other action zones. For the first time, we have had to set up a waiting list. Around 80 exhibitors are represented in the world of trend sports, including almost all known surf sport and wakeboard manufacturers.
The maritime holiday market in Halls 13 and 14 are sure to appeal to willing holidaymakers. Croatia, Italy, the Balearic Islands or the inland waterways of Eastern Germany: Those of you looking for the right holiday destination for next summer, perhaps looking to charter a boat, or do a course, are sure to find the right company amongst 300 international charter operators, travel agents, and tourist associations.
Experience 360° water sports: 16 event and themed worlds
Under the motto "Experience 360° water sports", visitors can look forward to 16 event and themed worlds. Fishermen, surfers, kiters, divers, sailors, paddlers, or charter boat renters: Those who do water sports or who want to get to know how it's done will find a "world" just for them at boot 2013.
Recreational fishing centre relaunched
We have worked tirelessly on the informational and give-it-a-try offerings. After Beach World, the Diving Sport Centre and the World of Paddling with canoe run, the recreational fishing centre is being relaunched. This colourful world of experience of rods, reels and bait has a new sparkle with fresh ideas. There are ponds, streams and aquariums for trying out rods and bait. Jetties and grass banks and fishing huts create an ambience in which fisherman and women can feel at home. The content of the stage program has been made more accessible to newcomers.
A new attraction at Beach World is the kite simulator which takes brave punters up into the sky. The big names of the sport have more prominence, e.g. the starts of wakeboarding, which will be offering their tips and tricks in interviews and discussions. For the first time in stand-up paddling a German hall championship has been arranged: the boot Düsseldorf German Indoor SUP Championship in which the best stand-up paddlers in Germany are taking part. We are confident that yacht and water sports and its leading event - boot Düsseldorf- will again be the place to be for many thousands of water sports enthusiasts from all over the world again this year. I am looking forward to a successful 44th boot Düsseldorf and hope you meet some interesting people, discover some interesting themes, and last but not least that you will have fun at our exhibition!
