Clinton Foundation: “Too Small To Fail Is Building A Public Action Campaign Focused On Closing [The] Word Gap To Help Ensure That All Children Start School Ready To Learn.” “Too Small to Fail, a joint initiative launched in 2013 by the Clinton Foundation and Next Generation, aims to help parents and communities take meaningful actions to improve the health and well-being of children ages zero to five, and prepare them to succeed in the 21st century. Studies show that by age four, children from lower income families hear, on average, 30 million fewer words than their peers from higher income families, creating a ‘word gap’ that sets them back before they’ve entered their first classroom. Working with partners across the country, Too Small to Fail is building a public action campaign focused on closing this word gap to help ensure that all children start school ready to learn.” [Annual Report, Clinton Foundation, 2014]
