Origins of Islam
Do Now
Students will respond by writing for 5 minutes in response to a prompt on the board:
What kind of climate and landforms (topography) would you find in the countries around the Arabian peninsula?
Trace the origins of Islam and the life and teachings of Muhammad, including Islamic teachings on the connection with Judaism and Christianity by drawing a timeline on the board. Have students do the same in their notebooks. Mark the years of earlier religions studied.

Students should record 8 facts of interest in their journals after viewing. Create a fact board to remain posted in the classroom until the end of the unit.
