This article describes the phenomenon of Irish immigrants who arrived in America as part of the “New Irish”, returning in droves to Ireland. My father emigrated from Ireland during the 1980’s, and so was part of the “New Irish”, and also returned to Ireland. However, he did not necessarily have the same reasons, because he did not bring his family with him, and he left several years before the publication of this article.
