Begin with a “TRENCHES skit” that would set the students up with the “lingo” of WWI soldiers.

We had students do a Rapid Write to self-brainstorm their own ideas about the topics we presented to them and the modified RAFT that they were provided

Students got into their small groups and worked on research for developing a great visual presentation (visualization) of their chosen topic

Students present skit to both teacher and TLTT. Rubric included below.
RAFTing Through WWI.

INSTRUCTIONS: Your job is to portray and relive events in history. Make a commitment to bring the facts to life. From the list of topics you will have to choose one topic and apply it to one of the RAFTs below. You will be allotted the class time to do the following:

  • Research your topic by answering the following questions:

  • What is the issue/topic about?

  • When/why did it happen?

  • Who/what are the sides?
