th century. Their language was Old English which is the earliest historically recorded English language. Developed into what is known now as Middle English. Included people from Germanic tribes who migrated.
Characteristics of the genre
Fantasy: because of the different monsters Beowulf had to defeat that most likely do not exist in real life
Myth: because of Beowulf’s comparison to a God
Moral: because of his faithfulness and how he was proud of his accomplishments but always gave thanks to God for assisting him in them
