particular blessings whose time has arrived and which God stirs us up to ask for and what Jesus calls “signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3)
As Holy Spirit promptings and leadings. (Matthew 4;1, Acts 13:2, 15:28 Romans 8:14)
As prophetic declarations about a certain matter e.g. Daniel seeing the prophecy of Jeremiah was about to be fulfilled so he went into prayer and fasting in faith for it to come about (Daniel 9:1,2)
The Korean pastor Paul Yonggi-Cho has a wonderful book called The Fourth Dimension, where he says the spiritual realm is like a fourth dimension that encompasses and is greater than the physical three dimensions. He tells many stories about answers to believing prayer. At the end of the book Pastor Cho says that he knows when he has the required faith when the problem that seemed as “big as a mountain” suddenly shrinks so it is like a small peanut in the palm of his hand and he “knows he has the thing he has asked for”. This is a good illustration of how faith works in real life. We see the problem “as big as a mountain” and we go to God’s word and find a promise that applies to it. We then claim this promise, praying it through and studying it until it slowly sinks into our minds and hearts, praying over it until it becomes crystal clear and the anxiety vanishes and we know in our spirit that God has heard us.
