A FAITH GROUP
CONSTITUTION
The name of the Association is:
A Faith Group
(in this constitution known as “the Association”).
AIMS/OBJECTIVES
The Association exists to promote the interests of the association members. In particular:
to work for the members in promoting their interests and assisting them to achieve a full and independent life;
to promote social activities for all members and to involve as many people as possible in the social life of the area;
to uphold equal opportunities and to work for good relations among all members ensuring no member receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, colour, gender, marital status, ethnicity or national origin, sexual orientation, disability or religious belief;
to empower and encourage participants to take an active part in the running and management of the A FAITH GROUP, so as to be truly representative of its aims and objectives
MEMBERSHIP
Membership will be open to all FAITH GROUPS in Southwark and the neighbouring community. In furthering the objectives, members will pay a contribution of £1 (one pound) annually.
Each member shall have one vote at meetings in matters affecting the Association. Only members present at meetings may vote.
It shall be a condition of membership that all members conduct themselves in a reasonable manner at all times during meetings, representations of the Association or in premises used by A FAITH GROUP. Members failing to behave accordingly shall be excluded from these premises.
The Steering Group, by a majority vote and with good reasons, shall have the authority to terminate membership. The individual concerned shall have the right to appeal and to be heard by a panel of the Steering Group and be accompanied by a friend, before a final decision is made.
MEMBERSHIP FEE/SUBSCRIPTION
The fee’s for membership for the year 2006/07 is set at nil to encourage initial membership and shall follow the pattern already outlined in para 1 thereafter.
POWERS
Power to use volunteers for the proper pursuit of the objectives and to make all reasonable and necessary provision.
Power to co-operate with voluntary bodies, statutory authorities operating a charitable cause to exchange information and advice.
FINANCE
All money raised by or on behalf of the Association is to be used only to further the aims/objectives of the Association.
In raising funds, no substantial or permanent trading activities shall be undertaken and any relevant requirements of law shall be conformed with.
All cheques and instructions to the Associations bankers shall require 2 of the agreed signatories, one of whom must always be the Treasurer.
No payments can be made from the Associations bank account unless such payments are authorised by the Committee.
The Committee shall have regard to the need to raise money during the year and will promote activities to this end.
The Treasurer shall have the accounts checked at the end of the financial year.
DISSOLUTION CLAUSE
If the A FAITH GROUP, for whatever reason, ceases to continue, all remaining funds will be disposed of according to the wishes of the Association following a meeting.
